Old music loves

Last tuesday i went to an interesting gig, that of Carl Barat from The Libertines, but it was his solo tour. The thing is, when i was at uni, many moons ago now, i absolutely loved The Libertines and also loved Carl, he was the coolest man ever!! So when i went to see his new stuff it was with great anticipation, should i have kept the memories of the past? Yes, yes i should have. He was okay, still got his lovely swagger, messy hair and the tightest leather jacket, yay! but it wasn't a rocking!! the only tunes to get the place moving were the old libertines songs and even they were a bit off.

So should i learn from my mistakes?? Because another fave band of mine from uni times Eighties Matchbox B-lie disaster are rolling into town this tuesday. I loved loved loved them, and still listen to their old albums, so will it be as good? i'm debating this one....

so once again i slipped out of my blog, to where i don't really know?! time seems to have flown by since my last post and i've not really got anything to show for it. There have been hen dos, weddings, lots of going out and not a lot of saving going on!! 2 things that i want to return with our my 2 favourite things of late!

1 being the Low Anthem, if you've not heard of them you must rush out and get the album, Oh My God Charlie Darwin, it's amazing, i went to see them at a local club and they blew me away, from a really quiet acoustic irish shanty song, to a loud southern drawl of a song, if you do one thing today, listen to them.

Number 2 is The Satorialist, which i've followed forever, but i'm just not getting tired of it, or think i will do ever!! Scott is a truly cool photographer and his subjects ranging from workmen to the fashion elite are always interesting, go see here!

If you've never heard of gemma correll then i suggest you get yourself over here and check out her online illustrative diary. It's addictive! She seems to make the mundane funny and having recently got herself a pug dog, it's all got very exciting, everyone's her friend now!! Love it! and Mr Pickles!

this week i've decided to do an outfit based on Alison Mosshart from The Dead Weather.

i really love her look but not so sure i could pull it off myself. it's very dark, masculine and add a lot of a care free attitude! so i've put togther tshirt and jeans from topshop, leather jacket from Alexander McQueen, leather chelsea boots from new look and a three fingered ring from Maison Martin Margiela. Love it!

For this week's outfit i've decided on a nice summer's evening dress with black accessories. I love love love wearing black, down to my black nails! So here we have a printed swing dress from Kate Moss for Topshop. The range of clothes in her current collection are actually really nice, however i'm not too sure how much she's designed!! Shoes from Miss Selfridge, and the lovely long slim black pvc clutch from Vivienne Westwood.

i bought this dress at the weekend from Miss Selfridge, which i love!! the polka dots, the shape, the fit, perfect!! yay! so if i could pair it up with anything, here's what i would choose. These amazing buckled shoes from Kurt Geiger called Dora and this gorgeous oversized Mulberry Alexa leather bag. I like the geeky satchel type bag with big heels and a cute dress. love it!!

i came across this image on ffffound. It's by an illustrator/artist called Owen Glidersleeve, it's a piece for the guardian. I really love this style of work, real cut out papers and layers, everything real. Definitely beats photoshop! It also reminded me of Rob Ryan who i'm a huge fan of too. Check out Owen's work here.

So Miss Selfridge have done something quite funny, they've brought out a Gossip Girl range, based on the four main girls, Blair, Serena, Vanessa and Jenny. Admittedly i do watch the show but i didn't like the idea of this range, however i do loooove this dress, it's from the Blair section! It's a bit like which SATC girl are you?? None of them! Beautiful ribbon shoes by Givenchy and a clutch by Mischa Barton for Tesco, another surprise!

Really like this packaging for a UK chocolate company called Curious Chocolate, it's also got a cute website to go with it, found here. I found out about this packaging on a really cool blog called Dieline, it showcases all the latest packaging, from big companies to students work, definitely worth a visit.

Here's this weeks outfit, starting with the amazing Alexander McQueen knuckle duster clutch, just the right amount of grunge and glamour! Nude leather high heels from ASOS and a gorgeous dress from French Connection, i love the simplicity of this dress, yet the big dramatic ruffle down the side doesn't seem too dramatic!! Love it!

These lovely new dresses are designed by Pearl Lowe and modelled here by her daughter Daisy Lowe, and are available on the high street at Peacocks, of all places!!! I will definitely be checking them out as i think they look so lovely, polka dots, nudes, baby doll dresses. what more could i ask for, and i'm guessing that the price will be pretty cheap :)

we're decorating our dining room, and it's totally from scratch, new fireplace, new floors, new door frames, everything. so we're thinking.... keeping it all white walls with wooden floors, and colourful accessories and prints on the walls. aarrghh, i can't wait to do the painting, i'm hating all the sanding and filling!!

Once a week i'm going to put together an outfit that i would love to have. So I'm starting with these amazing shoes by Miu Miu, what i would give to have a pair of these! oh my heart! First Lino Prints!!

Well I've decided to mix some drawings with printmaking. I used to do a lot of this when i was at uni, but it's been a while, so not as good as i used to be, forgot all the small things, like make all the lines quite chunky, and apply loads of pressure, and most of all be prepared, which i wasn't, so got in a right mess!! But anyways, here's my first attempt, many more to come... I've got the bug!

Last night I went to the UK premiere of Coco avant Chanel, at Nottingham's Broadway. The film was lovely, showing Coco Chanel's life through the years in such gorgeous settings and amazing clothes. It made me realise how different she actually was for her time. Refusing to wear corsets and feathers. A true inspiration...I need to know more now!!
